Dealing with our Treasures
We’ve all heard the phrase “One person’s junk, another person’s treasure.” Sometimes when we are moving, there are things that we’d rather leave behind or not have to bring with us to our new house - a spare refrigerator, a particularly heavy couch, a dog kennel, a yard statue. Sometimes the new buyer will want you to leave these treasures behind or they may be willing to negotiate a separate sale. Often though, it makes sense to act proactively even before we have a buyer in order to present our house in the best possible way for showings. Donating to local charity shops like SonBridge or St. Vincent are an option for smaller items. Sites like Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist are a good solution for finding that unique person who will see the value in our treasures, and who might be willing to haul it away for us.
