Thinking about building a fence? There are some things you should consider in order to stay compliant with city building regulations. Major criteria include types of fence allowed, height, and setbacks from roads. Cities are concerned about safety, especially for drivers at intersections where a high fence might block their line of sight. Each city has prepared useful diagrams explaining specific requirements, but in general fences in the front yard needs to be shorter and allow greater visibility while remaining back from the public right of way, while backyard fences can afford more privacy.
